Quick Page or Template? You Decide!
The last template I made was functional, and straight from a beautiful layout but the template itself wasn’t pretty. So, I thought I’d work on making a prettier template the next time. Only when I finished it I guess it was too pretty, because I decided to use it as-is for one of my own layouts!

I love these photos of my girls on an early spring day. This was the first time Raeleigh rode in the Jeep. Danielle was finally getting good enough at driving that we let her take Raeleigh for a ride. Although I think Danielle just knew how to drive in circles!
Anyway, this template was created especially for my Facebook Fans! You can get it by clicking on “Fan Offer” in the left column of the page. You can even use the frame over again on other layouts! I hope some of you will link up your layouts using the template or the frame!

I also created a Quick Page for those of you that want to use the Template as-is….you’ll just need to drop in your photos behind the Quick Page. And of course delete the parts of photos that overlap another frame.

Christmas Lights at Rhema with the 50mm!
A Christmas Light photo shoot at Rhema Bible College has always been on my To-Do list. This year everything fell in place! Perfect weather to take pictures without coats, cute outfits that Daddy bought on a business trip, and everyone was in a good mood…kind of. Raeleigh promised to trade smiles for a trip to QT for candy…until she saw the glow necklaces! I didn’t want them in the photos so I promised to get her one afterward. It took me a while to coax the smiles out of her!
I tried to read up on how to take portraits in the dark with great Christmas Light Bokeh. I didn’t really find a great tutorial. The best tip I found was to use manual settings and adjust them until the background lights look good. Then turn the flash on to photograph your subjects.
It worked pretty well except I had two problems. First, my auto focus is broken on my Nikon. (I forgot to send it in for repair before the Christmas season so I had to make-do.) Second, it is impossible to focus in the dark! So, here is my tip, and what I’ll try next time. Bring an assistant and have them hold a flashlight to shine on your subject while you are focusing! My best photos were taken when I was standing in the lighted walkway. At least I didn’t walk away empty-handed!

I made a template of this double page spread! You can find it linked up in the rotating box under the log-in at my website DigiScrapQuickPages.com! Anne-Made’s paper really made my layout but there are lots of hanging strings/ribbons that you could use with ornaments to get the same effect! There are some hanging snowflakes and ornaments in this kit…Or you could do some hanging bird houses with birds flying around using this kit! And here is some stitching that has been on my wishlist for a while, there is a great blanket stitch which would be perfect for this layout!

A “Duh” Moment…Layer Photos
You know sometimes I look at templates with layers and all I think about is how to use the papers in a kit. I was looking at a template by Biograffiti and I just saw paper layers. Then, I noticed that most of her CT team interpreted it that way…except one!
I really like the way this CT team member used other photos as layers under the main image!
Very nicely done, and that seagull is the perfect finishing touch!

Five for Five, 500 Facebook Fans That Is: $5 Shabby Miss Jenn!
I have some Shabby Miss Jenn gift certificates in trade for doing some Blogger tutorial videos. I actually tried to do a giveaway during the time Shutterfly was promoting DigiScrapQuickPages.com this past month. I was going to do drawings from people who left comments on quick pages and templates, but to be honest I didn’t get any! So, I definitely need feedback on that one! Maybe the pop up ad announcing it was annoying so nobody read it?
I know there isn’t a digital scrapbooker out there who wouldn’t LOVE a chance at $5 in Shabby Miss Jenn products! So, let’s try this again. It is iDSD afterall (International Digital Scrapbook Day)! And, she has a fantastic sale going on!
Anyway, I have FIVE $5 gift certificates to give away! Leave a comment on this post with a link to your favorite Quick Page or Template showcased at my site DigiScrapQuickPages.com. Make sure and use your email so I have a way to contact you. I’ll do a drawing after the kids go to bed tonight. That means I’ll announce the winners sometime between 9:00 and 10:00 CST tonight. Which gives you all day Sunday to decide how to spend your prize!

Do a Photo Album of Your Best Times…and Better *Lovin’* Will Follow!
How is that for an attention grabbing headline? Well, I read it in the October 2010 issue of Men’s Health! Here is their scrapbooking love language advice:
“Start using that vast backlog of digital photos you’ve been taking and collaborate on a photo album. Do it old-school, printed-picture-style, in a way that memorializes the funniest and best times you’ve had together. Doris Bazzini, Ph.D., of Appalachian State University, found that couples who laughed and reminisced about good times were more likely to feel more satisfied with their relationship.”
It made me think about the Hawaii trip we took in 2007. I did a Tabblo about our trip, but I never finished my scrapbook. I loved doing these Tabblos before I started doing digital scrapbooking. It was actually a transition time between my traditional and digital scrapbooking. Fair warning- it does have some bikini photos, which is why this was the first album I thought my husband would love for me to finish. LOL! Well that and all the kid-less quality time!
Here are some unscrapped photos of my hubby and I in front of Molokini and in Lahaina. I actually have plans to take a hybrid approach for my Hawaii album. And, I blogged my first examples a while back. I just have not finished it.

Does this inspire anyone else to do an album? Maybe a ten things I love about you album? Do you have beach photos to scrap? Check out the beach Quick Pages on my site DigiScrapQuickPages.com! It is a little bit of a small collection right now because I have not made a concerted effort yet to find all the BEST beach Quick Pages like I have with the current Shutterfly promo for Back-to-School! If you are a designer with some great beach Quick Pages just join the site, propose yourself as a designer, and when you finish tag the products with “beach.”
