Shabby-Chic Blog Templates

I’ve been adding blog related information to my original “Blog-Ed” post, but I found a site today that just needed to be highlighted on its own. Shabby Miss Jen Designs has the coolest shabby-chic blog kits!

Each kit includes all the graphics you need to make your blog stand out in the crowd. For example: a banner, banner for a photo, 2 background images, picture frame, border divider, journal mat, tab buttons with text and blank tab buttons.

And, they have a video tutorial for editing the graphics in Photoshop and installing them in Blogger. Check it out!

Designing a Blog?

Are you thinking about designing a Scrapbook blog? Check out this blog banner kit at Two Peas. I have not downloaded it, but it looks like a great way to get a professional looking custom look. Others may download it and use the same elements, but they should still look different.

You would then just pick a theme template from Wordpress, or your own provider, that has an area for a banner about the same size and shape. Rightclick on that banner in the theme and choose “save as”, taking note of the file name. Then save your new custom banner as the same name and drop it in the images folder!

You can also usually replace a background on many of the Wordpress or Blogger templates. One site that has some really cute backgrounds with a scrapbook feel is The Cutest Blog on the Block. And Lena’s site has some absolutely wonderful designs, but she says they may not work with all browsers  so make sure and check it!

Are you wanting to publish a blog but you are reading this thinking, ok, what is a banner, then what do I do with it? Well, here is a blog that might just help get you started: http://www.bloggingbasics101.com/

My Scraproom

I actually have an “arts and craft room” upstairs. That is what we have called it anyways, since we moved here 7 years ago. But, it is now attic spill over. When we bought dining room furniture I didn’t see any reason to work upstairs when I had a perfectly good (seldom used) table downstairs. It does not usually look this neat, since we have a kitchen table too I don’t have to keep it picked up. Right now my china is still stored in here. But, all other nooks and crannies have been replaced w/ my craft stuff.

This is with the leaves out. When friends come over to scrap I put them in. My new computer is attached to the Cricut, I had been moving the kiddy table to our office every time I attached CDS. Now I won’t have to do that. The only problem w/ the dining table in center of room is the cords.

Here is a view from the other end, you can see plates that my grandmother painted on the wall…I get my artistic interest from her I guess. Our office is in the background.  The 3 tiered Longaberger baskets store some of my small, but growing, stamp collection.

It is nice to have the kid’s table in here, even my 2 year old now loves to draw. On the wall is one of the only paintings I ever framed. I have not painted since I started grad school, then I met dh and once married scrapbooking became my creative outlet.

This is an antique medicine cabinet my dh refinished for me before we knew how much work it was to strip paint from metal. We never hung the glass door back on because I painted the hardware (mistake) and never stripped it back. I’ve made use of some of my Longaberger baskets to store stickles, embossing powder, markers, and colored pencils. The boxes have all my software in them. I recently added several Martha Stewart chocolate boxes for storing the papers stacked here (not pictured.) Magazines are stacked below. And finished cards or projects in progress are on the second shelf.

My cards and envelopes are in one drawer, embellishments in another, and all my cords plus my embossing heat gun and glue gun are in another. I found an old punch storage bag that fits my Cricut carts and keypads perfectly.

My CM bags (3 of them) are in the corner. The big one has my paper in it. Albums you can see. The big basket has ribbon in it. CM stickers are in the black thing on the credenza w/ cutting tools and Cricut boxes. I like them out as I just moved the cartridges and I have not decided that it is the permanent solution.

Photos are stored in the CM organizer on floor here. Some in progress projects are in boxes. And the file basket currently has my files in it. Although I may eventually store paper scraps there when our office is finished. Dh is building a desk area….and I’m hoping he’ll allocate me more file space. My camera tripod is ready to go. I am almost ready to test some videos I’ve been planning.

Thanks for letting me share. My goal is to not have my dining room look like a store…so, I am trying to refrain from buying too many supplies!
